Mogging with Loshan, Terror Incarnate

Liddey

A long time ago, in a raid tier far, far away… Well, it wasn’t that long ago, but with as fast as the patches are coming in Pandaria, it sure feels that way!  Back when I was still playing my Horde mage, I received this amazing sword in LFR and knew I needed to mog around it.  In honor of Alt Apprecation Mage Week, I thought I’d finally post about this mog and the one I really wanted to put together.  I never did get that ideal mog made, as it required 25 man Ulduar and we just couldn’t duo Kologarn, but the picture above is how Liddey has been sitting all these months, and it’s not bad if I do say so myself 😉

Super Spectacular Arcane Mage Mog

It’s finally Mage Week in Lae’s alt appreciation whirlwind, and I’m super excited to share this mog!  I mentioned I was working on this mog in my last Mage post, and I actually finished it awhile ago, but wanted to wait and join in the appreciation fun 😀

red_mage

I’m really loving this mog now, but it was sort of a pain in the tail to put together.  Of all the alts I took through the Molten Front back in Cata, Drayney was not one of them.  When I decided I HAD to have this pink gloves, I had to start those dailies from scratch.  400 bazillion Marks of the World Tree later I finally had them, however I had neglected farming up the hood.  It drops from Netherspite in Karazhan, and I had seen it drop so many times when I didn’t want it.  Weeks after getting my gloves, it still hadn’t dropped for my mage though.  Then, one night while updating the cloth helm pictures on Mog Companion I had a huge derp moment.  I updated the picture for this hood, grumbled about it not dropping and moved on.  About an hour later I thought, ‘too bad I’m not a Warlock, they can just buy the hood with some Cenarion Expedition rep…’, then ‘wait! Wasn’t there a third item listed as the same model?’  That’s when the derp came, hardcore.  The hood is also a quest reward from Icecrown.  A quest I didn’t do, and towards the beginning of the zone!  So, I ran off to get my hood and promised myself I would thoroughly check the same model as tab next time XD

Anyhow, I thought the mix of pink and purple was a good look for an arcane mage.  The belt and bracers are a little warlock-y, but those shoulders say “Hey! I’m a mage! I will Arcane Blast you in the face!”

Blizzard Store Transmog Helms – Cloth Mogs

Unless perhaps you’ve been under a rock, on vacation, or not playing WoW, you’ve surely heard the hullabaloo over the new items at the Blizzard Store.  Formerly a place to buy neato pets and mounts, they’ve now added 3 Cosmetic Armor Pieces you can spend your real-life gold on, and mog to your hearts’ content.  I have mixed feelings about these helms, they’re not really my style, and I think the price point is a little high.  I know everyone’s got quite an opinion on these things, and I won’t say either way if I support them being sold for money or not.  What I do support 100%, however, is the people who buy these and want to wear them.

There’s a rumor going around Twitter that some poor chap got kicked from LFR, and the reason in people’s boxes was that he was wearing one of these store helms.  To make it worse, the ‘rumor’ (I can’t speak to it’s truth as I wasn’t there) was started by some pretty high-profile podcasters who were making fun of this person.  This blog is not usually a place where I voice strong opinions, but without a doubt, my opinion of this situation is that it is asinine and unacceptable.

I’ve got a lot more to say about this, but I will digress and get to the pretty pictures.  In short, transmog is as much a form of self-expression as what class you play, and NO-ONE (not even you, Mr. Worgen DK in purple judgement) deserves to be publicly made fun of for what they choose to mog into.  So rock on, kid who got kicked from LFR, and comfort yourself in the thought that the gear you wanted wasn’t going to drop from that run anyways, and you were better off with another group 🙂

So ANYWAYS, here’s some cloth mogs I put together for the 3 helms.  If I’m feeling funky-fresh, I might do some of the other armors too!

This first helm you may have seen with the blue skull face effect.  I had no idea that was just an animation until I saw Mogoholic’s post about the helm.  It’s a pretty neat looking crown in still form!

Head – Crown of Eternal Winter

Shoulders – Valorous Shoulderpads of Sanctification (Priest)

Chest – Mooncloth Robe

Hands – San’layn Ritualist Gloves

Waist – Mindfire Waistband

This helm kinda scares me.  Those red eyes in the black, it’s like what you’d see if you said ‘Bloody Draenei’ in front of a mirror in dark 12 times.  BOO! /shudders

This helm is serious about its horns.  Please be careful not to put an eye out if you’re mogging this one.  Unless, that’s your intention… and the target is an orc… named Garrosh…

Head – Jewel of the Firelord

Shoulders – Firehawk Mantle (Mage)

Chest – Robe of the Waking Nightmare

Tabard of the Achiever

Hands – Sanctified Bloodmage Gloves

Waist – Embereye Belt

Umlauts over at Mog’s Addiction did a pretty awesome plate mog for this one, so check that out too!

P.S. You can scope out the helms for yourself on the Blizzard Store.

Mage Mogs!

Well, I really thought I was going to post about my awesome mog I have planned for Drayney with Widow’s Clutches.  I unlocked the vendor who sells them in Molten Front, but /sigh… I need 125 more tokens before he will actually sell anything to me!  For normal people, this should only take 5 days, but I have a horrible time doing old content dailies every day.  I took me about a year and a half to get my Netherdrake mounts, and I still have about 3/4 of the Argent Tournament stuff to get :/  Oh wells, instead here’s a post about what my dear mage has been wearing in the mean time!

purple

I was wearing my green mog for a really long time to go with that cool dragon staff.  Then, I got a wand as a weapon and kept that mog with dual star wands!  I really like the model of the Brightcloth Robe, but after awhile, I wasn’t really feeling the shoulders I was wearing.  I needed something a little more-magey.  After a little MogIt browsing, I decided on this purple outfit.  Pretty similar to the green one, but these shoulders say “Hey!  I’m a mage!” 😉

Helm – Incanter’s Cowl

Chest – Elder’s Robe

Gloves – Gloves of Penitence

Waist – Cord of Cacophonous Cawing

(Above: Waist – High Councillor’s Sash, Dagger – Edge of Oppression, Off-Hand – Regal Star)

After I got the sha-touched sword from LFR, I went back to my green mog for a few minutes, but I really didn’t like how the greens only almost matched with the sword, lol.  In preparation for my upcoming mog, I picked up the Embersilk Robes off the AH, and then found this awesome helm while cleaning out my bank.  So, I thought, why not a mix a little of the green with red?!

Head – Cowl of the Illidari High LordShroud of the Nathrezim

Chest – Embersilk Robes

Waist – Councillor’s Sash

Gloves – Mindbender Handguards

Sword – Splintered Icecrown Parapet

Off-Hand – Watcher’s Star

I’m wearing Black Mageweave Leggings with both outfits, but any of the skimpy leggings should work.

So, there’s a brief look at what Drayney has been wearing lately.  Each of the looks went through several iterations before I settled on these two, but I’ll spare you the details 😉  I have some MogIt mock-ups I did to go with the LFR sha-touched sword I’ll try and get posted this week.  By then, I hopefully will have done the dailies to get my damned pink gloves!

Legolene’s Fashion Dilemma

Hey fly peeps!  I’m on vacation this week, so please enjoy this guest post from Legolene!
————————————————————————————————-

Hey everyone this is Legolene from WoW Adventurer and I need some advice with my latest transmog.  As a Draenei who is relatively new to the whole transmogrification game, I find myself at a crossroads as to what do do with my fire mages latest outfit.  I currently have this red and gold theme going on, solely inspired by the shoulders Mantle of False Virtue which was a drop from Archbishop Benedictus in Hour of Twilight.  Since I decided I really liked the shoulders, and the red theme was somehow fitting with my mage’s main spec which is fire, I’ve been sporting the Red Linen Robe as my main outfit.

But it’s time for a change, and this is where I need the readers of Pretty Fly for a Draenei to help me out.

Do I switch to the Replica Magisters Robes and leave it at that? I really love this robe, with the gold accents, but isn’t it a little, I dunno, two seasons ago?

Or do I go with this fab new blue and gold theme, and either keep the red and gold shoulders, or start looking for some new blue and gold ones?

Can anyone suggest cloth shoulders that would go well with this robe, the Mistscape Robe? I could really use some advice here.

Thanks Pretty Fly Draenei for allowing me to ask your readers for help with my fashion dilemma.

Love is In the Air

mage

I posted this mog the other day on Twitter as just a ‘hey, this is what my mage is wearing now’ thing.  Then today, I was thinking about something to post here as a Valentine’s Day outfit, and I thought this is actually the perfect mog!  The dress reminds me of exactly how I dress in RL for V-day – show a little cleavage and actually put on a necklace 😀  I’m not much of a jewelry wearer, but I like to look a little fancy for our V-day nights out.  My Mr. and I met a few weeks before Valentine’s 6 years ago, and our first date was the weekend after.  We also got engaged on V-day 5 years ago, so it’s kind of an anniversary for us.

Anyhow, back to the mog 😉  I love the way these shoulders are just barely blue, which is the same color shown throughout the dress.  They also glow red, so I think they’re perfect!  Unfortunately, they are horde-only Tier 9 shoulders, so it doesn’t quite work for a fly Draenei *sad face*.  Well, I can’t let my belf have all the boobilicious fun, so I came up with a couple alternatives that look just as nice!

I left the headpiece out of the Draenei mage mog, because it looks a little silly just plopped on top of a plain hairstyle.  I think it looks best with the croissantwich ponytail hairdo that my elf has.  Here it is on my paladin, for illustration purposes.  You can also see here that she has on the Wound Dressing underneath the dress for a little modesty panel.

Here’s another version, playing up more of the red.

Head – Felcloth Hood

Shoulders – Consortium Mantle

Chest – Imperial Ghostbinder’s Robes

Hands –Muddied Crimson Gloves

Waist – Orbital Belt

The crimson gloves require Frenzyheart Tribe rep to purchase, but the Replica Virtuous Gloves, which are off-white, would work also.

Well, I hope if you celebrate V-day, you had a lovely one! If you don’t, I hope you had a nice Thursday 😀

Mini Mog Post – Feeling Green

green

I’m working my way towards the Quintessential Quintet acheivement, but I’ve been finding it hard to choose which alt should be number 5.  I already have a Paladin, Hunter, Death Knight and Mage at 90.  The DK and Mage are my elf ladies, so I debated for a long time about leveling my fly draenei mage.  Do I need another mage?  Probably not.  The reason I leveled my elf mage though, is because I had so much fun playing Drayney at the end of Cata.  So, I’ve played around with my warrior, leveled all my almost-80 lanquishers, even started bringing up my 52 priest!  It all comes back to wanting to mage it up though!  She was already just shy of 87 from doing archeology, and still rocking her farmer mog.

The first step in leveling up any character is getting a nice mog set up 😀   I visited my bank and void storage for inspiration, and this dress was really speaking to me.  I had already purchased the dragon staff, and I thought they went together pretty well.  I don’t really think of green as a mage color, but I kinda love the look, so I thought I’d share it with you guys!

Shoulders – Frayed Abomination Stitching Shoulders

Chest – Brightcloth Robe

Waist – Councillor’s Sash

Hands – Windwool Gloves

Staff – Staff of Broken Hopes

For legs, I’m using the Cindercloth Pants, but any of that model, or the new model leggings would work to show the cut out.  If you’re feeling a little more modest, you could also go with a greenish-gold or brown pair or pants.

Red Cloth Mog – Twisted Visage

New expansions in WoW are really great.  New levels, new content to explore, new stories to hear and more!  My favorite thing about new expansions, though, is how powerful my characters are once they finish leveling.  I’m not one of those super-soloers like this rogue who soloed Patchwerk 25 at level 80.  The only raid I could solo at level 80 was Strathome (when it first came out you could technically take a raid in there, so that counts, right?).  So, when I hit 85 and got a little gear, I was quite excited to be able to spend time obliterating Karazhan and Molten Core etc. by myself.  Now that I’m 90, I’ve been pushing into more BC raids alone.  Thanks to this awesome video, I was able to do Tempest Keep the other night.  Yes, I know he did it at 85, but like I said…

view1

What’s even better than all this anti-social behavior is stomping out old raids with a few close friends!  My horde-side guildies and I decided to give Ulduar 25 a shot the other night.  It started out as just 4 of us, and we were having a hell of a time trying to figure out Flame Leviathan Four Towers.  Luckily our other 2 guildies logged in as we were going to give it our last shot.  After one more wipe, we got him down and proceeded to merrilly frolic our way through the rest of the acheivements for the Ironbound Proto Drake.  We didn’t finish as it got late, but we made it all the way to Vezax.  Along the way, this awesome staff dropped.  The two druids and I all gave it our “ooh’s” and “aah’s”.  I felt a tiny bit bad that I won the roll, but I knew I was going to run out right away and make a mog for it 😀  My little belf mage has been running around in this mog, but as always, it looks much better on Drayney, lol.

Embersilk Robes Transmog

This lovely robe is the perfect cherry red.  It shares it’s model with the Felcloth Robe.  I have one on the auction house I just can’t unload, so I thought I’d make a mog for it instead!  I decided to go with a red and green look to actually play off the belt.  I sincerely hope they come out with more low profile cloth belt models like this one, maybe without the screaming green gem in the middle 🙂

Aqua and Gold Cloth Mog

Here’s a random mog from my ever-growing Mogit set-list! The shoulders in this outfit are sort of an oddity.  They are a recolor of the Classic-Wow Dungeon Set shoulders. The dungeon sets were all recolored and added in BC, but the odd things about these shoulders is they were added in Wrath. There are no other pieces to the set, just this random model from a quest in Halls of Lightning.  Even the other rewards for the quest are strictly Wrath models.  I think they should add more little gems like this.  Whole sets recolored are cool and all, but little hidden transmog pieces are definitely more fun.

Feathered headdresses are also fun.  I’m not sure it really has the same feel as the other pieces, but I really liked the way the little feathers coordinate.  I used plainer gloves to pull it all together.
