New Draenei Customizations in Shadowlands

The Shadowlands pre-patch goes live October 13th, and it brings some much-needed new character customization options for Draenei. While not as extensive as some other races, there are new skin and hair colors, hairdo’s, horns, jewelry and tail options. I’m looking forward to the pinkish skin and lavender hair for my warrior, she’ll be waiting at the barber shop for patch day!

The character creation screen got an upgrade too. It looks like 4, 13 and 14 are the new skin colors. Click here to see the old colors for comparison.

New Draenei Lady Preview

Super exciting news Draenei enthusiasts!!! The latest beta build for Warlords of Draenor has the new Draenei models in it!! The male model was added a few builds ago, and I’ll get some pictures of him soon. Here’s a few pics I grabbed tonight comparing my ‘live’ toons with their beta counterparts. Standard disclaimer applies – this is beta, things are subject to change. Also, the art department has been very much letting us know the models are still ‘in progress’. You’ll notice the eyes are (hopefully) missing their glow, and shoulders, weapons and helms don’t show at all!

drayneeOld Draynee, meet new Draynee

hearthHearthing face

draineeDrainee – one thing that’s really bugging me is the two tentacles on either side are sort of mushed into one.

dreynieDreynie – with new chest a bellybutton definition.

frontDraynee front – her hooves have changed slightly and her arms curve at her sides differently. You can see her palms face more inwards and her gloves aren’t as flared at the top.

sideSide – you can see the posture is mostly the same, though her knees and uh, backwards knee are more pronounced. As is her breast muscle, which is a little odd.

Wowhead has the new model available on their model viewer if you want to check out more of the new animations.  I will try and get some higher-rez comparison shots from it, my computer wasn’t all that happy running the beta client, live client and Photoshop at the same time!  I am still digesting the new face, but I do like the new hairdos.  Although, from the front her croissant roll is a little flatter 😉

Warlords of Draenor Transmog Preview

A folded hood? *swoon*

A folded hood? *swoon*

Howdy Draenei enthusiasts! I hope everyone is fairing the ‘end of xpac blah’ well.  I’ve realized I’ve been a terrible blogger since Blizzcon, there’s not very much posting going here! To be honest, I haven’t really felt the spark to get back to beloved Azeroth.  Well, I feel a spark, but then I log in and can’t decide what to do, and blah.  The slow trickle of Warlords news hasn’t been to great either. BUT!! Out of that slow trickle was some news we moggers actually care about! Wowhead posted a whole heap of armor/transmog sets they datamined.  I must say, there’s some pretty snazzy gear in there.  There’s also a few new ‘features’ on the gear, such as the folded down hood, and lots of dangly belt things.

cloth_set

I posted a few of my favorites on twitter awhile ago, but this mail set with the hood is definitely one of them! It would be awesome if the hood showed on your head if you have ‘show helm’ on, and down if not!  I also really like this cloth leveling set.  Yeah, bla bla, ‘pointless’ armor, but knowing I would never wear something like that in real life, it’s fun to dress my draenei in it!

Over on Mog Companion, I posted a preview of all the sets wowhead had up, on draenei of course!  The pictures link to the model viewer and the wowhead post, so head on over and check it out!  Warlords of Draenor sets Preview

Pretty Fly for a New Draenei

Draenei enthusiasts!!! Unlike last Tuesday (which I’m not going to even go into), this Tuesday we got some awesome Draenei news out of the art department at Blizzard!
draenei2Yes, you’re looking at renderings for new, improved Draenei model! A disclaimer though – she’s still ‘in progress’.  She’s obviously not posed properly, and the hair looks like it could use some work.  That being said, she looks super fly!  It was so awesome for Blizzard to post a little ‘nugget’ for us, since she wasn’t quite ready, but they didn’t want us to think the joke model was all they had.

draeneiI must admit, my first thought was “phew, she looks the same, but better”.  I was nervous her face would get a complete revamp like the gnome and dwarf females, and I wouldn’t recognize my ladies anymore.  But, she has the same feel, just updated.  I had the same reaction to the male tauren that was posted on Monday. “Oh, he looks the same… but he has nostrils… and teeth!”  If you haven’t watched the animation videos on that post, they really bring the new model to life.  I am so excited to see new draenei all rigged up and moving around!  I also really can not wait to see gear on these models.  I’m curious to see if they’ll be able to set shoulder gear better on the new model.  You know how some of them look like they’re falling off behind her.  That was actually a major issue with my Draynee cosplay!  We attached the shoulders to my tabard, but they kept slipping off my shoulders.  Luckily, we had brought supplies into the convention, and during opening ceremonies, my husband was super-glueing a clear strap between the shoulders in the back.  They held up like magic after that 😉

undeadfem02My only bummer is that she doesn’t have amazing eyelashes like the undead female does, but at least she has some eyelash definition.  The nose has better definition as well, but it’s still dainty and not a major feature of her face.  I may also like the old hooves better.  I’m reserving judgment on the hooves until we see her standing properly, but I do hope they keep the little fringe of fur at the top of the hooves.  I’d hate to have to remake my draenei boots!

I am quite fond of her underoos, they are definitely more stylish then that cheapo bikini she was wearing.  I know ‘supportive’ and ‘strapless bra’ don’t really fit together in the real world, but it looks like there’s enough structure in that top to hold the gals up.  I mean, she’s an alien anyhow, maybe their ta-tas do defy gravity 😛

I’m Back + Mog Companion!

waving

Hey everyone!  It’s been awhile, but I’m finally back from vacation!  Sorry I didn’t have more stuff to post while I was gone, I was hoping for some more guest posts.  I loved having Legolene and Satsuri’s posts featured here, and it would be super awesome to have guest posts in the future just for funsies 😀  If any of you would ever like to write one, just let me know!  Any draenei-related subject matter accepted, not just transmog.

While I was gone, I was able to log into WoW occasionally with my dinky little laptop.  I had the graphics slider set all the way to Low and it was still overheating!  I can’t believe I ever raided 25’s on that thing :O  The up-side was that when I got home and logged in I was in love all over again with how beautiful the game looks on a halfway decent computer!

So, I don’t have a mog post today, but I want to let you all know about another little project I’ve been working on for like, ever.  I’ve been messing around with it for almost a year, and I keep shying away from talking about it because it’s just not “done”.  But here, I’m gonna do it!!!!  Introducing…

www.wowmogcompanion.com

I got the idea for this site one day while wondering what all the colors of hoods were in game.  I started keeping pictures on my computer, and thought I’d grow it into a visual database for transmog.  It’s sort of like MogIt, but without the dressing room.  I actually used MogIt to take all my pictures, so thanks to those folks 😉

The basic concept is a quick way to find all of the models of a certain piece of gear quickly.  Say you want to see all of the plate dresses, they’re all there together!  It’s also great if you’re wearing a flared-sleeve top and want to see what color gloves come in a short model, to keep the sleeve showing.

So, that’s the gist of it!  I’m still working on some of the categories, including adding sets, but I think it’s time for my Mog Companion to start companion-ing… or something like that, lol!  Check it out and let me know what you think, I’d really appreciate any feedback 😀

5.2 Weapon Transmog Changes

Now that patch 5.2 has arrived, we can finally mog some weapons into other weapons!  No more having to change out of your pretty pink outfit because you can’t find a mace to match 😀

The Burning CrusaderMasterwork Spiritblade DecimatorDespair

The change isn’t all encompassing, as you still can’t mog a dagger into a sword, but it is still pretty broad.  Two-handed maces, swords, and axes can be mogged into each other.  The same for one-handed maces, swords and axes.

Bladespire BroadaxeMasterwork Phantasmal HammerThe Willbreaker

Many of the weapons that were previously labeled as main-hand only have been changed to one-handed.  This is an excellent change, as I’m sure like me, you have tried to mog a new tanking mace into something with a different label.

Finally, great news for monks and druids – staves and polearms can be mogged into each other as well!  You do have to have the ability to equip both weapons, however.  So, sorry mages, no Hellreaver for you.

Wow Roleplay Gear has a nifty little chart and some additional details on the changes for more info.

Dreams Do Come True!

Arcane Wand of Sylvanaar and Regal Star

One of my favorite item models in the game has always been the star wands.  Every caster alt I made, I would hit up the auction house around level 16 to get a Skycaller.  When I found out there was an off-hand model, I started collecting those too!  I was so excited when transmog was announced that I’d finally get to use my star wands.  Well, mogging my wand wasn’t really all that exciting since you never really saw it, but with the changes to wands being main-hand items, my dual-weilding star wand dreams have at last come true!  I’d been stuck with a staff on my mages forever, but I got a wand the other day, and spent a couple of days doing archeology for the umbrella offhand.  Hooray for star wands!! 😀

More info on this mog can be found here.
