The Amazing Transmog Survivor Contest…

…that I did not survive! LOL

The equally amazing JD over at Amateur Azerothian is up to his craziness again.  This time he is running the “Amazing Transmog Survivor Contest“.  That guy and his wild ideas, I love them!!  This contest is a tad more simple than his previous contest.  Each round mogs must be submitted per his guidelines.  He’ll then pick one person to grant immunity too, and the rest of the entrants are subject to a randomly chosen axing.  He says it’s based on the rules of the show Survivor, and I’m going to believe him since I’ve never watched it 😉

As you can guess, I got the RNG boot in the first round. *sad face*  I love the challenge of coming up with a mog based on a prompt.  Oh well, I can still play by myself on my blog, teehee!  I don’t envy JD with trying to pick an immunity winner, as the first round entrants where all pretty awesome.  You can see them all here.

The first round challenge was to create a Disciple of Har’koa, as in someone who would perhaps worship or follow Har’koa.

I love the colors of the cat, the frosty white accented by an almost-aqua blue.  It actually inspired my previous post about my Ultimate Mog, since I kept hitting those pieces in MogIt while putting my entry together.  So, here she is, the Disciple that didn’t make it, lol:

Head – Titan-Forged Hood of Salvation

Shoulders – Titan-Forged Shoulderpads of Domination

Good luck to the remaining survivors!  Watch your back for that RNG, she’s a real bitch 😀

Hallow’s End Transmog Contest – Results!

Ugh… too much candy…

Last night, all the innkeepers of Azeroth stayed up late packing away their candy buckets, and emptying out the apple bobbing barrels.  Much like Hallow’s End, the Fly Draenei Hallow’s End Transmog Contest has come to an end too.  I wish I had more exciting news, but I had a whoping 3 entries!  I was looking forward to seeing some silly costumes using the masks, but oh well.  The three entries are super awesome and I really appreciate them for taking the time and sending them in!  Since all three entered in the “Miscellaneous” category, they will all be getting Eye of the Legion loots.  I was going to have 3 winners anyways, so why not?!  I want to give a special thanks to Kamalia, who offered to help judge but, well…. Thanks Lady 😀

And now, what everyone’s been waiting for – The Fly Draenei of Hallow’s End:

First up is the fabulous Vidyala with her mage Millya.  Millya is a super fly witch, complete with a Feline Familiar as a companion.  So cute!

Head – Skywitch Hat

Shoulders – Dreadful Gladiator’s Silk Amice

Chest – Robe of the Shadow Council

Hands – Enslaved Doomguard Soulgrips

Waist – Girdle of Endemic Anger

Staff – Rosethorn Staff

Next is the lovely Jaedia with a Hallow’s End Themed Transmog.

Head – The Hexxer’s Mask

Shoulders – Mantle of Cleansing Flames

Chest – Embersilk Tunic

Hands – Inferno Gloves

Waist – Sash of the Burning Heart

Finally, we have Unholiernu the Pirate Priest for Kirin Tor!  The weapon & off-hand choice make it a very Hallow’s End pirate look 🙂

Hands – Magefist Gloves
Waist – Captain Sanders’ Sash
Legs – Missionary’s Leggings
Feet – Buccaneer’s Boots

Fly Draenei Hallow’s End Transmog Contest

Beware the crazy pumpkin lady, children.

Fall is here, and with it comes a Transmogger’s favorite Azerothian Holiday – Hallow’s End!  For moggers every day is dress-up day, but Hallow’s End gives us a chance to dress a little different than usual.  As you can see above, Drayney is getting into the spirit with her crazy pumpkin mog.  I would love to see what other awesome mog costumes you guys come up with, so I decided to have a little mog contest!

Between now and October 31st, send me your costume mogs for one of these three catagories:

Azerothian NPC – Anyone from Azeroth or Outlands is game here.  Thrall, Brann Bronzebeard, an Innkeeper, etc…

Fictional Character – This is for anyone from outside Azeroth.  Superheroes, characters from other games, stories, or movies are some examples.

MiscellaneousAnything else you can come up with!  Pumpkins, miners, lions, whatever goes!

Prizes
The winner from each category will be awarded a mini-pet!
Azerothian NPC – Sand Scarab
Fictional Character – Purple Puffer
Miscellaneous – Eye of the Legion

The Fine Print
Since this is a Fly Draenei party, your entry must be a Draenei!  If you do wish to dress up like Thrall, one of these masks would be an awesome addition to your costume.  I will post item numbers for them in a follow-up post for use in MogIt or Model Viewer. *Update – Item numbers here.

Your costume must be a valid transmog, although weapons are not required.  This means shoulders, belts and gloves must be included, and the costume has to be all the same armor class.

Your entry can be an in-game screenshot, or taken from MogIt or WoW Model Viewer.

You can enter as many costumes as you like, the more the merrier!

Entries must be in by October 31st, 11:59pm (US PST).

Entries can be e-mailed to: prettyflydraenei@gmail.com

That’s it, now get to moggin’!!  If you have any questions, leave a comment, e-mail me, or tweet @FlyDraenei.

Fly Draenei at the Mogolympics

The Transmogolympics may have ended, but they will live on forever in our hearts! Lol, ok that was super cheesy, but I couldn’t think of a good opener for this post.

I finally got a chance to check out everyone’s entries to the Mogolympics over at JD’s awesome site – “The Official Home of the Transmog Games“. There were so many amazing entries, all I can say is ‘Wow!’.

I’m sure no explanation is needed as to why, I decided to make a slideshow of all the Fly Draenei that were in the Mogolympics. Not every faction had a Draenei representative, but that is ok, because some factions had more than one!

Here’s just a few of my Super Fly favorites.  It was really hard to only pick out a few, but otherwise this could go on for days.  Now I really know how the judges felt!

This wrestler representing Darnassus cant help but
be fly in that Zebra pimp hat!  He is a Draenei even
professional wrestlers wouldn’t want to mess with.

This fencing entry from the Earthen Ring is really stunning.
The gold and silver with pops of green is well done.

The Illidari’s Cycling entrant made excellent
use of the Pillager’s Leggings.  Not very attractive
as a full set, but coordinated with the silver and
brown pieces, they look very nice.

The Sunreavers picked an excellent entrant for the
wrestling tournament.  This Draenei is super scary,
in a badass wrestler way.  You can see by his score he
even put the fear in someone as fly as Mr. Pimp Hat.

Mogolympics Wrap-up

Well, the end has finally arrived.  The Closing Ceremonies to the Transmogolympics were today.  That was one hell of an amazing contest!  I, however, am speechless.  Or perhaps, I have too many words, but here it goes:

I am honored, shocked, amazed, surprised, grateful, ecstatic, humbled, and blown away:

I won the Mogolympics, and it is just so cool!  All the competitors did such an amazing job, and I’m so appreciative of each and every one of my medals.  I had so much fun with the challenges presented in creating the outfits.  A big CONGRATS! to all the other winners.   I can’t say ‘thank you’ enough to JD for setting the whole contest up, I hope he doesn’t get sick of hearing it, lol.  I also want to thank the other three judges, the mountain of entries they had to go through would have made lesser women run and hide :D.

As if he hasn’t already done enough, JD has set up an official Transmogolympics website to feature all of the competitor’s outfit by faction, and includes wowhead links for each look.  You can also get an idea of just how close every competition was, as he’s included each entry’s score.

I have also set up a page for all my Mogolympic entries, just for funsies 🙂

In week 3, we saw the final three events, Fencing, Freestyle, and Equestrian.

The first event of the week was Fencing. My little entrant proved gnomes aren’t just for punting around, and she’ll challenge anyone who tries!

The challenge for this event was to build an outfit around a one-handed sword.  I decided to literally make a fencer for this.  When I finally got all the pieces picked and matched perfectly, I fell in love with her.  Honestly, I put all my hopes and dreams into her.  I thought “if I can only win one event, I know it will be her”.   Not only did she bring home the gold, I found out in the closing ceremonies she got the highest, almost-perfect score for any entry of 39.5.  Gnome Powah!!!!  I sorta wish I hadn’t deleted my gnome warlock so she could wear this, it does not look as awesome on Draenei :/

The second event of the week was Freestyle.  This event was an opportunity to really show off some creativity, and the competitors really brought their ‘A’ game.

The challenge here was to build your own npc.  Here was the text I sent to go along with my entry:

My Freestyle NPC is a sheep farmer, who has moved in with Agee Tyler in his little cottage north of Stormwind. Despite their obvious height difference, they get along well, as Agee spends most of his days sitting in front of the fire and doesn’t have much to say.

I discovered the little cottage only a week or so before the contest was announced and I knew I wanted to use it.   I had debated on my character being a few different things, but decided the farmer fit the scene best.  The other npc idea I had was someone who could reassign you old quest chains in exchange for transmog-only pieces that were the original quest rewards.  That one didn’t really pan out, so farmer Drayney it was 🙂

The last event to be held was the Equestrian.  It was a rainy day in Hillsbrad Foothills, but the competitors were out in full horse, err… force.

The challenge for this round was to build an outfit to compliment one of the horse mounts.  I originally started with Tyrael’s Charger, but I’m glad I gave up on that because the Silver winner who did build around that horse did an incredible job.  So, my entry was based on the Felsteed.  My baby warlock Zzyzx was a great entrant for this.  I had a hard time picking a belt for the look.  I settled on one that was ok, but when I put the horse model into photoshop to lighten it up a little, I noticed the red rune on it’s chest.  I remembered seeing a belt that looked just like it, and the outfit was complete!  Now I just need to actually level her so she can wear it!

Well, that is the end!  It was super-fun and I hope there’s something like it again soon.  Maybe a winter version!  Brb, working on my Ice Dancing outfit! LOL.

Mogolympics Week 2

Week 2 of Mogolympics has drawn to a close, and as expected, there was some fabulous mogs to be seen. This week we had the Wrestling, Archery, and Javelin events. There was quite a lot of throwing going on, between the javelin throwing, and contestants being thrown off of the docks in the wrestling event.  Congrats to all the medal winners this round!

The first event this week was Wrestling.  I was honored with a bronze medal for this cheeky guy.

The challenge for this event was to build a look around one of the “championship” belts.  This is one of the events I decided to take literally, and created a semi-pro wrestler man.

The second event was Archery, and this competition was fierce.

The challenge for this event was pretty straight-forward.  Build a look around your favorite bow.  I went back and forth a lot on this event, as far as which outfit to submit.

The last event was the Javelin throw.  I took a whopping 16th place!

The challenge here was to build a look around a polearm.  I had high hopes for this lady, but I guess her throwing arm just wasn’t up to snuff!

Next week are the last three events, Equestrian, Freestyle, and Fencing.  There is also going to be Closing Ceremony, and I can’t wait to see what JD and the others have up their sleeves for it!

Mogolympics In Full Swing!

**** Warning – if Orcs still give you nightmares about Draenor, and you think Troll’s toes are ugly, you may want to skip this post ****

With the opening ceremonies and 3 events under our belt, the Mogolympics is is full swing now! There were so many entrants, I am amazed at the work the judges are doing. I believe I counted 47 entrants! How they are keeping it all straight is beyond me!

To recap my first post,  I am representing the Lower City, and this fly guy is my flag bearer!

The events that have been held so far are Cycling, Hammer Throw, and Discus.  The judges have done a really great job doing write-ups of each event, so check out those links.  The contest as whole was a little difficult for me, as we could only use each race/gender combo once (flag bearer excepted).  I definitely learned some things look better on other races, and most things look better on Draenei, lol.  On to the recap!

The first event was the Cycling.  I was blown away to be chosen as the gold medal winner for the event, thanks to the judges for picking me!  I guess sometimes Orcs can be fly too… I guess…

The Cycling challenge was to build a biker outfit to compliment the Chopper out of leather or mail.  I went with more of a bike babe look, rather than a match the chopper look, and a lot of the other entrants did too.  She does compliment the tires rather well, I think 🙂

The second event was Hammer Throw.  From what I can tell, I landed in a 5-way tie for 5th place.

The Hammer Throw challenge was to build an outfit around your favorite two-handed hammer.  This outfit was especially challenging, as I really don’t like maces.  There are some that are ok, but I generally dislike them for reasons other than the look.  I can’t stand the hollow ‘donk’ sound that plays when you parry, or are parried using a mace.  The sound in my ears just makes me cringe at maces.  Anyhow!  I decided to just have fun with this one since there was no weapon I loved.  You can’t go wrong with a Draenei in pink!  Maybe you can…

The latest event held was the Discus event.  This one was a total wash for me, which is not surprising.  I’m guessing the judges were too busy staring at her weird two-toed feet.

The Discus event is pretty self-explanitory, but we did have a limited selection of shields to pick from for our outfit.  This was the last outfit I did for the competition, and I guess it came out looking that way.  I was going to go for one of the popular blue and gold looks, but chose something unusual instead.  I think it all ties into the shield fairly well, but perhaps those disco-striped Bogslayer Legs are just a bit too unusual 🙂

So, that’s the competition so far!  This week we have Wrestling, Javelin, and Archery still to be revealed.  My wrestler is pretty tongue-in-cheek, so I’m interested to see his placing.

WoW Factor Tichondrius

This week I had the honor of being asked to guest judge a WoW Factor Show!  I’ve been to a few of their shows, and even won at the two Proudmore shows, but this was my first time ‘behind the scenes’.  I was really nervous going into it, especially about talking in Skype with so many people listening.  Noelani, Ironyca and Elvine were great though, and it felt like I was just hanging out, talking about transmogs with three buddies.  I’ve always admired the work they put into doing these shows, but now even more so having been involved in the craziness.  There was a ton of contestants, a ton of whisper spam, but most importantly, a ton of fun!  A huge thank you to all the people who have ever sponsored these events and made them possible.

Judging was slightly intense.  There was so many people to look at, and you want to look at everyone, but you have to keep the show moving.  Sometimes I would spot someone and before I could give them a closer look, I would move back to where one of the other judges where to give their pick a good look.  There were a lot of awesome mogs we just didn’t have time for and I hope those people at least had fun at the show.  There was even 2 or 3 people I still wanted to win in round 1, but we ran out of money!

Round 2 was a top 5 for 10k each round. It was incredibly difficult to narrow it down.  We ended up having four 10k winners, and 4 runners-up who got 2.5k each.  The runners-up were all amazing and we just couldn’t decide who not to pick.

I didn’t end up with nearly as many screenshots as I thought I did.  I remember taking more, but when I went to edit them, a lot were duplicates of people 🙁  Luckily I did end up with some pretty fly Draenei shots, lol.  You can see them all in my Facebook Gallery, but here are a few of my favorites.

Sharpstorm
Sharpstorm – one of the 10k winners.  Her mog set is mostly made from the Protector Mail, but the pieces she added, and her weapons make it really amazing.  Her gloves and shoulders are from the Shaman tier 10 set, the headpiece is the Savage Gladiator’s Helm, the shield is the Cataclysmic Gladiator’s Shield Wall, and the mace is Mariel’s Sorrow.  All the pieces flow so wonderfully, she is definitely Super Fly!

These guys aren’t Draenei, but I still think they’re fly 🙂  Demonofblood and Ohmnomnomnom were both round 2 winners, and two of my top picks.  Demon mixed 3 different PVP tier pieces, tier 10 helm and boots, and a random green-quality pair of gloves, and ended up with an amazing warlock look. He was a 10k winner.  Ohmnon wins for the most unusual look of the night.  His mix of Demon Stalker pieces with the gloves Sharpstorm used, are accentuated by his crazy Murloc helm.  I thought the look was just so unique I wouldn’t let him go in round 2.  He was one of the four ‘runners-up’.  As Ironyca put it, he was quite brave to show up with that helmet on, lol.  I didn’t think that helm could ever look good, it even looked terrible with tier set, so thank you Ohmnom for making it work!

Arkainjel’s black and gold look is really striking.  He did a great job pairing the Exalted Plate with Helmet of the Steadfast Champion and Shattered Sun tabard. He was a round 1 winner.       Moonric was a round 1 winner for the excellent way she coordinated Stormrune Edge and Spaulders of Heroism with the Templar’s set.
Neshoba did a wonderful job of accessorizing the Ebonhold set. The Renegade boots and gloves, Upstanding Spaulders, and Headdress of Inner Rage all come together nicely.  Unfortunately, round 1 ran out before I had a chance to nominate her as I really like this look. Kiddø‘s blue and green look was coordinated amazingly well.  In round 1, she had brown gloves that didn’t look quite right, but she came back in round 2 with green gloves and won 10k.  The passive green and blue glows on her weapons really pulled the whole look together.

Thanks again WoW Factor team for inviting me along, it was awesome!

Mogolympics!

Amateur Azerothian is hosting another great transmog contest called the Mogolympics.  They recently had an event called Mog Madness, a mog-based take on March Madness.  I missed entering that one by a couple of days, but I decided to throw my name in for the Mogolympics.  I was hesitant to enter at first, as one of their main rules is that for the 9 competition outfits, you have to use at least 5 races, and only one of each race/gender combo.  Oh, my poor, Draenei-loving heart!  How was I even going to take pictures of anything but Draenei (or blood elves, I might have some of those too)? Thanks to some tips from Kamalia on using the WoW Model Viewer, I figured I might as well give it a shot.  I’ve actually been having a lot of fun using the model viewer now that I got it figured out, so thanks again Kam!

The 9 competition outfits are based around Olympic events, but with an Azeroth twist:

  • Archery – Build an outfit around your favourite bow.
  • Cycling – Build a biker outfit to compliment the Chopper.  It must be either Leather or Mail.
  • Discus – Build an outfit around one of the shield skins seen here
  • Equestrian – Build an outfit to compliment one of the horse mounts in the game.  (Faction limitations apply, so no Orcs on a Stormwind pony)
  • Fencing – Time for some swordplay.  Build your best outfit around the 1h sword of your choice.
  • Javelin – Build an outfit around the polearm of your choice.
  • Hammer Throw – Build an outfit around your favourite two-handed hammer.
  • Wrestling – We’re going to deviate from olympic wrestling and go to the sports entertainment aspect instead.  Using one of the “championship” belts, design your own Azerothian pro wrestler.  Think of the oversized belts, such as the Firemend Cinch seen here.
  • Freestyle – Build your own NPC. Could be an innkeeper, could be the Green Orc Lantern.  Doesn’t matter.

Each entrant is also assigned a faction to represent.  We use this faction’s tabard for a 10th outfit, the “flagbearer”.  I was given Lower City to rep, and since this outfit doesn’t award a medal, I can share it with you now!
Head – Bloodspore Hood
Shoulders – Conjurer’s Mantle
Chest (hidden) – Green Woolen Vest
Lower City Tabard
Wrists – Conjurer’s Bracers
Hands – Hands of the Chosen
Belt – Dirtwood Belt
Legs – Hooligan’s Pantaloons
Feet – Lightheart Sandals (these don’t actually show up as anything on Draenei, hooray for hooves!)
The banner is an item in the model viewer,
but it is white, so I photoshopped the emblem in.  Thanks to Cymre at Bubbles of Mischief
for the idea!

If you’d like to enter the Mogolympics, visit Amateur Azerothean and leave a comment, or send them an e-mail.

Another Great WoW Factor Show!

Last Saturday, the WoW Factor team came to Proudmore again for a special Proudmore Pride transmog show.  Proudmore Pride is an annual event hosted by the two mega-guilds on the server, and this year they invited WoW Factor to have a transmog fashion show.  Once again, it was an awesome time, with a great turnout.  Major thanks to the hosts and the guilds who sponsored the prize money.

I decided to bring my mage this time, since I recently (finally) completed an outfit for her.

Waiting for my turn.
I got picked for a round one prize towards the begining of the show, so I spent the next few hours hanging out and listening to the live stream (thanks Elvine).  The show went a little long because everytime they were almost out of round one money, someone else came and sponsored more prizes!  The server-wide support was great, and some late-comers, or others who may not have normally gotten a prize were able to be spotlighted.
Here are some of my Fly Draenei spots from the show:

Lüvely

Rinno and Lladnaea

Satsuri

Schwert, who was a 10k winner, and a
Worgen at the last show.

You can check out more of the participants in the WoW Factor Facebook album.

Once Round 2 was over and 112.5k gold was given out, there was a short break for outfit changing before round 2. Round 2 would be the final round at this event.  Like the last show, the judges picked two 10k winners, and 3 finalists for the last spot.  This time, though, they decided the final 10k winner through an audience vote.  However, much like last time, the finalists were me, a dwarf, and a Draenei hunter.  It turned out the dwarf mage (Krystalis) is the same player who was in the finals with me as a dwarf shaman from the first show, strange that we both switched to mages for this show.  We had a great time talking about our outfits and wishing each other luck during the last round.

Audience voting
This time, the hunter blew us both out of the water.  She had the most audience members lined up behind her, Krystalis was 2nd, and I came in 3rd. I got a pretty cool dagger I might use in a future outfit.  Props to all the winners, and especially the hunter who beat us, Kiarmshi for keeping it super fly!
