Mage Mogs!

Well, I really thought I was going to post about my awesome mog I have planned for Drayney with Widow’s Clutches.  I unlocked the vendor who sells them in Molten Front, but /sigh… I need 125 more tokens before he will actually sell anything to me!  For normal people, this should only take 5 days, but I have a horrible time doing old content dailies every day.  I took me about a year and a half to get my Netherdrake mounts, and I still have about 3/4 of the Argent Tournament stuff to get :/  Oh wells, instead here’s a post about what my dear mage has been wearing in the mean time!

I was wearing my green mog for a really long time to go with that cool dragon staff.  Then, I got a wand as a weapon and kept that mog with dual star wands!  I really like the model of the Brightcloth Robe, but after awhile, I wasn’t really feeling the shoulders I was wearing.  I needed something a little more-magey.  After a little MogIt browsing, I decided on this purple outfit.  Pretty similar to the green one, but these shoulders say “Hey!  I’m a mage!” 😉

Gloves – Gloves of Penitence

Waist – Cord of Cacophonous Cawing

(Above: Waist – High Councillor’s Sash, Dagger – Edge of Oppression, Off-Hand – Regal Star)

After I got the sha-touched sword from LFR, I went back to my green mog for a few minutes, but I really didn’t like how the greens only almost matched with the sword, lol.  In preparation for my upcoming mog, I picked up the Embersilk Robes off the AH, and then found this awesome helm while cleaning out my bank.  So, I thought, why not a mix a little of the green with red?!

Head – Cowl of the Illidari High LordShroud of the Nathrezim

Chest – Embersilk Robes

Waist – Councillor’s Sash

Gloves – Mindbender Handguards

Sword – Splintered Icecrown Parapet

Off-Hand – Watcher’s Star

I’m wearing Black Mageweave Leggings with both outfits, but any of the skimpy leggings should work.

So, there’s a brief look at what Drayney has been wearing lately.  Each of the looks went through several iterations before I settled on these two, but I’ll spare you the details 😉  I have some MogIt mock-ups I did to go with the LFR sha-touched sword I’ll try and get posted this week.  By then, I hopefully will have done the dailies to get my damned pink gloves!

  1. I’m the same with old content dailies! Trying to keep at them at the moment to collect the last of my “easy to get” mounts. Still need the dragon from Tol Barad, 4 from Tournament (one is the pally charger), the Flaming Hypogryph from Molten Front, and then there are achievements to think about too.

Oh my gosh you found a look that actually goes with the Illidan helm!! /bow.

    Jae xx

    • The weird thing is, I’m all over dailies when they’re current content. In Cata I had 3 toons exalted with Tol Barad for the horsies, and my horde toon with the wolf and dragon, lol!

  2. That belt from Ji-Kun (what a hilarious name it has!) is the most perfect belt ever for that robe — what an inspired combination! The whole set is lovely. 🙂

The Widow’s Clutches are such a perfect match for the Ruby Slippers that I know I’m going to have to do the Molten Front grind to get them for my Blood Elf Mage at least, and possibly also for my Blood Elf Warlock and my Tauren Priest. I’m not really looking forward to the grind itself, though… ugh.

Oh, that cowl! Someday, when I get my Warlock to a high level, she will farm that hat and wear it with that robe. Maybe she will wear it with the Vestments of the Shifting Sands, too. And she will probably want the Ruby Slippers and the Widow’s Clutches to wear with them.

    • Thanks Kam! All the ToT bosses have some ridiculous names IMO XD

All this talk about what we’d prefer to buy off of the Blizzard Store, I’d pay $15 for the 525 Marks of the World Tree to unlock Mr. Widow’s Clutch vendor in a heartbeat!

  3. Excellent work! By the way, Draenei look fantastic in robes. That Illidari headpiece is always a classic look for a Draenei about lose her soul to the Burning Legion! ;p
