Golden Shadows Priest Transmog

priest_mogHowdy Draenei Enthusiasts!  I have been waiting to post this mog for a long time. You know how it goes… come up with an awesome mog on a low-level character, level her, grind rep and then run the same raid on and off for like 8 months before all the pieces drop!  I had pretty much given up on that staff, but last week I had this feeling that if I logged in, it would drop. It did!! Hooray for priest-on-a-stick! 😀

Staff – Staff of Immaculate Recovery

With the Scryers Tabard, if you can’t fathom grinding Golden Lotus rep 😉

The Helm and Staff drop in Black Temple from Teron Gorefiend and Gurtogg Bloodboil, respectively. The shoulders are from Priestess Delrissa in normal Magister’s Terrace. Gloves from Attumen the Huntsman in Karazhan. The waist can be purchased in Stormwind (or Orgrimmar) with Justice Points, and the legs from the Beast in Upper Blackrock Spire. UBRS will be getting a revamp in Warlords or Draenor, so you might want to grab those now!

Blizzard Store Transmog Helms – Cloth Mogs

Unless perhaps you’ve been under a rock, on vacation, or not playing WoW, you’ve surely heard the hullabaloo over the new items at the Blizzard Store.  Formerly a place to buy neato pets and mounts, they’ve now added 3 Cosmetic Armor Pieces you can spend your real-life gold on, and mog to your hearts’ content.  I have mixed feelings about these helms, they’re not really my style, and I think the price point is a little high.  I know everyone’s got quite an opinion on these things, and I won’t say either way if I support them being sold for money or not.  What I do support 100%, however, is the people who buy these and want to wear them.

There’s a rumor going around Twitter that some poor chap got kicked from LFR, and the reason in people’s boxes was that he was wearing one of these store helms.  To make it worse, the ‘rumor’ (I can’t speak to it’s truth as I wasn’t there) was started by some pretty high-profile podcasters who were making fun of this person.  This blog is not usually a place where I voice strong opinions, but without a doubt, my opinion of this situation is that it is asinine and unacceptable.

I’ve got a lot more to say about this, but I will digress and get to the pretty pictures.  In short, transmog is as much a form of self-expression as what class you play, and NO-ONE (not even you, Mr. Worgen DK in purple judgement) deserves to be publicly made fun of for what they choose to mog into.  So rock on, kid who got kicked from LFR, and comfort yourself in the thought that the gear you wanted wasn’t going to drop from that run anyways, and you were better off with another group 🙂

So ANYWAYS, here’s some cloth mogs I put together for the 3 helms.  If I’m feeling funky-fresh, I might do some of the other armors too!

This first helm you may have seen with the blue skull face effect.  I had no idea that was just an animation until I saw Mogoholic’s post about the helm.  It’s a pretty neat looking crown in still form!

Head – Crown of Eternal Winter

Shoulders – Valorous Shoulderpads of Sanctification (Priest)

Chest – Mooncloth Robe

Hands – San’layn Ritualist Gloves

Waist – Mindfire Waistband

This helm kinda scares me.  Those red eyes in the black, it’s like what you’d see if you said ‘Bloody Draenei’ in front of a mirror in dark 12 times.  BOO! /shudders

This helm is serious about its horns.  Please be careful not to put an eye out if you’re mogging this one.  Unless, that’s your intention… and the target is an orc… named Garrosh…

Head – Jewel of the Firelord

Shoulders – Firehawk Mantle (Mage)

Chest – Robe of the Waking Nightmare

Tabard of the Achiever

Hands – Sanctified Bloodmage Gloves

Waist – Embereye Belt

Umlauts over at Mog’s Addiction did a pretty awesome plate mog for this one, so check that out too!

P.S. You can scope out the helms for yourself on the Blizzard Store.

The Amazing Transmog Survivor Contest…

…that I did not survive! LOL

The equally amazing JD over at Amateur Azerothian is up to his craziness again.  This time he is running the “Amazing Transmog Survivor Contest“.  That guy and his wild ideas, I love them!!  This contest is a tad more simple than his previous contest.  Each round mogs must be submitted per his guidelines.  He’ll then pick one person to grant immunity too, and the rest of the entrants are subject to a randomly chosen axing.  He says it’s based on the rules of the show Survivor, and I’m going to believe him since I’ve never watched it 😉

As you can guess, I got the RNG boot in the first round. *sad face*  I love the challenge of coming up with a mog based on a prompt.  Oh well, I can still play by myself on my blog, teehee!  I don’t envy JD with trying to pick an immunity winner, as the first round entrants where all pretty awesome.  You can see them all here.

The first round challenge was to create a Disciple of Har’koa, as in someone who would perhaps worship or follow Har’koa.

I love the colors of the cat, the frosty white accented by an almost-aqua blue.  It actually inspired my previous post about my Ultimate Mog, since I kept hitting those pieces in MogIt while putting my entry together.  So, here she is, the Disciple that didn’t make it, lol:

Good luck to the remaining survivors!  Watch your back for that RNG, she’s a real bitch 😀

My Ultimate Mog – Field Marshal’s Raiment

priestMy level 60-something priest, forgoing heirlooms to wear the game’s most beautiful gear 😉

When transmog was first announced, way back in Sept. 2011, I immediately started planning what I wanted my characters to wear.  I didn’t know much about mixing and matching, and mostly had sets planned for my mogs.  Purple Judgement for my pally, Marshcreeper mail for the hunter, and this gorgeous set for my mage:

Field Marshal’s Regalia

Imaging my disappointment on that bright Tuesday morning transmog was released, and I was greated by this:

Pretty much crushing.  I picked up the Brutal Gladiator’s Regalia, mogged her into that, and resigned myself to being bummed about it.  Turns out the level 60 pvp gear you can buy in Stormwind can’t be used for trasnmog.  They actually have replica gear available in Area 52, but only if you attained those PvP titles back in classic WoW.  Well gee, if I had only known the future, I would have started playing 4 years earlier than I did! >.>  On the one hand, I understand those titles were quite difficult to attain, and this gear is sort of the last status symbol left.  I’ve only seen about 5 or 6 people even mogged into any of the Replica PvP gear.  On the other hand, though, I want my purple spiky shiny shoulders!!!  I’ve heard that these titles can be attained through Rated Battlegrounds these days.  There isn’t a whole lot of information I’ve been able to find, cause who really is going to devote their life to RBG’s just for transmog? (Uh, LF RBG group that just needs one more person to queue and doesn’t care that I’m not pro, I’ll try not to die too much?)

I’ve been leveling my priest up lately, and the other day I was messing around in MogIt when I realized this may be my one chance to wear beautiful Field Marshal’s gear!  Luckily I had done some bg’s earlier in my leveling and had enough honor to buy the pieces.  20% xp bonus be damned, I’d much rather look good 😀  I also realized I may actually like the priest set better than the mage set, and that I’d finally recovered from my initial disapointment only to have it come creeping back in the form of white spiky shiny shoulders.  So, while I can’t actually mog this stuff for the time being, I do want to share my ultimate dream mog:

Shoulders – Field Marshal’s Satin Mantle

Chest – Robes of the Exalted

Well, that’s my dream mog, how about you?  Do you have a dream mog set you may or may not ever get to use, be it rng nightmares or just too damn hard to get?

Red Cloth Mog – Twisted Visage

New expansions in WoW are really great.  New levels, new content to explore, new stories to hear and more!  My favorite thing about new expansions, though, is how powerful my characters are once they finish leveling.  I’m not one of those super-soloers like this rogue who soloed Patchwerk 25 at level 80.  The only raid I could solo at level 80 was Strathome (when it first came out you could technically take a raid in there, so that counts, right?).  So, when I hit 85 and got a little gear, I was quite excited to be able to spend time obliterating Karazhan and Molten Core etc. by myself.  Now that I’m 90, I’ve been pushing into more BC raids alone.  Thanks to this awesome video, I was able to do Tempest Keep the other night.  Yes, I know he did it at 85, but like I said…

view1

What’s even better than all this anti-social behavior is stomping out old raids with a few close friends!  My horde-side guildies and I decided to give Ulduar 25 a shot the other night.  It started out as just 4 of us, and we were having a hell of a time trying to figure out Flame Leviathan Four Towers.  Luckily our other 2 guildies logged in as we were going to give it our last shot.  After one more wipe, we got him down and proceeded to merrilly frolic our way through the rest of the acheivements for the Ironbound Proto Drake.  We didn’t finish as it got late, but we made it all the way to Vezax.  Along the way, this awesome staff dropped.  The two druids and I all gave it our “ooh’s” and “aah’s”.  I felt a tiny bit bad that I won the roll, but I knew I was going to run out right away and make a mog for it 😀  My little belf mage has been running around in this mog, but as always, it looks much better on Drayney, lol.

Embersilk Robes Transmog

This lovely robe is the perfect cherry red.  It shares it’s model with the Felcloth Robe.  I have one on the auction house I just can’t unload, so I thought I’d make a mog for it instead!  I decided to go with a red and green look to actually play off the belt.  I sincerely hope they come out with more low profile cloth belt models like this one, maybe without the screaming green gem in the middle 🙂

Aqua and Gold Cloth Mog

Here’s a random mog from my ever-growing Mogit set-list! The shoulders in this outfit are sort of an oddity.  They are a recolor of the Classic-Wow Dungeon Set shoulders. The dungeon sets were all recolored and added in BC, but the odd things about these shoulders is they were added in Wrath. There are no other pieces to the set, just this random model from a quest in Halls of Lightning.  Even the other rewards for the quest are strictly Wrath models.  I think they should add more little gems like this.  Whole sets recolored are cool and all, but little hidden transmog pieces are definitely more fun.

Feathered headdresses are also fun.  I’m not sure it really has the same feel as the other pieces, but I really liked the way the little feathers coordinate.  I used plainer gloves to pull it all together.

Transmog the Transmogrifier

When looking for transmog inspiration, NPC’s are a natural choice.  There are some great ones out there including Stormwind Guard, Orgrimmar Grunt, and Dark Ranger.  But, what about the guys that make the moggin’ possible?  Behold, the ethereals!

These guys have a really cool look going on.  Probably because they are made of purple light wrapped in bandages, but their clothes are neat too. So, here’s a few looks that capture the ‘feel’ of the transmogrifier, reforger and void storage guy.

First up, the transmogrifier guy! I tried to hit on his dark grey and purple color scheme and detailed skirt, along with flared out gloves, and of course, a hood! I normally don’t do helms in my outfits, but the cool hoods are what got me thinking about these mogs.

Warpweaver Hashom – Transmogrifier
mogger

“Mogger” mog, with a few priest-only pieces:

Head – Cowl of Absolution (priest only)

Shoulders – Soulstealer Mantle

Chest – Robes of Arugal

Hands – Savage Gladiator’s Mooncloth Gloves (priest only)

Waist – Clutch of Andros

Mace – Cudgel of Consecration

Off-hand – Temple Crystal Fragment

“Mogger” mog, sleeveless and all-classes version:

Head – Titan-Forged Hood of Dominance

Shoulders – Soulstealer Mantle

Chest – Necropile Robe

Hands – Bloodmage Gloves

Waist – Clutch of Andros

Mace – Cudgel of Consecration

Off-hand – Temple Crystal Fragment

mogger sleeveless2

Next, the reforger. He was a little more difficult as his coloring is a really light grey that doesn’t seem to appear much in existing gear.

Thaumaturge Rafir – Arcane Reforger
reforger grey

Reforger grey:

Head – Corp’rethar Ceremonial Crown

Shoulders – Necropile Mantle

Chest – Raiments of the Iron Council

Hands – Relentless Gladiator’s Mooncloth Gloves (priest only)

Waist – Highlander’s Cloth Girdle

Staff – Staff of Divine Infusion

Reforger white:

Head – Cowl of Benevolence

Shoulders – Soulstealer Mantle

Chest – Victor’s Robes

Hands – Safeguard Gloves

Waist – Astralaan Belt

Staff – Staff of Divine Infusion

reforger white

And finally, the void storage guy. This guy gave me a hard time, and I’m not 100% about the look, but I’ve tried so many pieces, I’m just gonna go with this one 🙂 Since there is no ‘sprakly purple ball’ main-hand weapon, I went with a sparkly spinny mace in it’s place

Vaultkeeper Razhid – Void Storage
void mog2

Head – Royal Headband

Shoulders – Necropile Mantle

Chest – any sleeveless chest will work here, I went with Black Silk Vest, and have theWound Dressing shirt on underneath as a nod to the ethereal’s wrappings

Hands – Truefaith Gloves

Waist – Master’s Belt

Legs – Pants of the Naaru

Feet – Silver-Thread Boots

Mace – Hammer of Atonement

Off-hand – Netherwing Spiritualist’s Charm

Drainee, is that you?

While looking myself up in the armory the other day I ran across this Pretty Fly Stranger Draenei.  Now, I know I was not the first person to name my character after a bad pronunciation of a race, but most of the other Draynees or Drainees or Drayneys are either low-level, or not Draenei.  Draynee is also a Human mage, and Drainee is also a Gnome mage.  Maybe it’s a mage joke I don’t get.  But this Drainee, she’s the real deal!

While, she is not transmogged, she is fully outfitted in the best of the Tier 13 sets.  I started leveling a priest shortly after the art for priest Tier 13 was released, I thought it was so awesome.  Draenye is only level 52, but she’ll get there one day.  I think priest Tier 11 and Tier 12 got a little weird, but priests definetly have some of the better looking tier sets in the game.  Tier 5 Avatar and Tier 6 Absolution are real winners in my book.  Maybe my priest is only level 52 because there’s so much awesome out there for her I am not prepared!

Circle of Flame, modeled by Drayney

Kattie is another super fly Draenei in Vestments of Dying Light, who I ran into at the bank. She has her helm mogged into the Circle of Flame, which drops out of Blackrock Depths.

Kattie – Proudmore
Just because I like it so much, here’s the wowhead model viewer shot of the set.
